Questions, answered
Everything you might want to know before you install File Manager One.
Getting started
Is File Manager One free?
Yes. It is free to download and use. Every feature is free for everyone. A small banner ad sits at the bottom of browsing screens, and a full-screen ad may show after an editor save, a big clean or a big move into the Safe Folder (at most one every few minutes). Nothing ever plays while you watch, listen or edit, and copying, moving and archives stay ad-free. An optional Premium subscription removes all ads, lets you request new features and supports our development.
Which phones does it run on?
Android phones and tablets running Android 7.0 or later, from brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Pixel, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Motorola and LG.
Do I need an account?
No. Install it and start using it. You only sign in to a cloud service when you choose to add one.
Can it replace my gallery, music player and ZIP app?
That is exactly what it is built for. Photos, music, movies, documents and archives all open inside the app, so one app covers what usually takes five or six.
Files and storage
Does it work with SD cards and USB drives?
Yes. An SD card or USB OTG drive gets its own tile on the home screen the moment it is connected, with the same copy, move, search and zip tools as your phone storage.
What happens when I delete something?
It goes to the Recycle Bin first and you get an Undo button straight away. Items stay in the bin for 30 days by default, and you can change that.
How do I free up space?
Open the Cleaner. It lists app caches, leftovers from uninstalled apps, duplicates, and large and old files, with their sizes, and you pick what to remove.
Can I protect private files?
Yes, with the Safe Folder. Files are encrypted with AES-256 on your device and only you hold the key. Write down your recovery phrase when you set it up: if you lose both your unlock method and the phrase, nobody can open those files again.
Media and documents
Which music and video formats does it play?
MP3, FLAC, AAC, OGG, OPUS, WAV and more for music; MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM and more for video. Music has a 10-band equalizer and visualisers; video has gestures, subtitles and picture-in-picture.
Can it open Word, Excel and PowerPoint files?
Yes, including old .doc, .xls and .ppt files and OpenDocument formats. Spreadsheets show every sheet, presentations show real slides, and Word .docx files can be edited.
Can I sign or fill in a PDF?
Yes. Highlight, add notes, fill forms and sign PDFs, then save or share them.
Which archives can it open?
ZIP, RAR (including RAR5), 7z, TAR, GZ, ISO, CAB and many more, including split and password-protected archives. You can preview pictures inside an archive and extract only what you need.
Cloud, PC and network
Which cloud services can I connect?
Dropbox, MEGA, pCloud, Yandex Disk, Mail.ru Cloud, Nextcloud, ownCloud, Seafile, Koofr, OpenDrive and WebDAV servers, plus Amazon S3 and S3-compatible storage such as Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi and MinIO.
Can I copy from one cloud to another?
Yes. Copy and move work in any direction: phone to cloud, cloud to cloud, cloud to NAS, just like moving between two folders.
Can I reach my PC or NAS?
Yes, over SMB, FTP, FTPS, SFTP and WebDAV. The network scanner finds computers and NAS drives on your Wi-Fi for you.
How do I send files to my computer without a cable?
Tap Wi-Fi Transfer and scan the QR code, or open the link, in your computer’s browser. Files move both ways over your own Wi-Fi, with nothing to install on the PC.
Privacy
Where do my files go?
Nowhere you did not send them. Cloud files travel directly between your phone and your provider; we run no server in between. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
